Jen, When I saw that Michelle Longo Eder commented on your blog on FB, I poked around it and was charmed. This entry about Cassandra and Danny touched my heart and brought back memories too, of their dreams and love.

I'm immersed in creating the second Bluefestival this fall in Seattle.... after our first event, I was asked to be on the Greenfest host committee so am bringing attention to fishing families, wild fish, coastal, watershed and ocean issues. Would love to share info sometime with you.

Best wishes, anne

Hi Jen what a beautiful tribute! It's particulary poignent to me right now as we just erected in our home port of Point Judith RI, a memorial for our men lost at sea. My husband, father and brother to name a few, are all commercial fisherman. I too used to fish when I was younger. On the news of the event this weekend I caught sight of the name of one of my best friends that was killed at sea. Like you we were not sweethearts but the best of friends. His little brother married my sister. That's a good thing. But isn't it something that you never forget?!? My Scott has been gone for over 20 years now, and I still cry to see his name there on the memorial.

You have a great writing skill. Drop a line if you have anymore. Peace my sister of the sea!

This is so terribly, awfully bleak because I knew what it was going to be about, and yet I find myself focused on the brightness you describe in his eyes, that surely came from his soul.
Luckily, such things do not extinguish easily, not even in the cold depths of the ocean, and across spans of time.
I am so sorry for this loss which will never leave any of you...just because it was so untimely (for lack of better wording).
I am sorry that I've been absent...my husband's father died this morning after a hectic week that started on Valentine's Day.
There's that awful February fog again. :(
