Commercial Fishing Books

  1. I was never someone who read books on my off time. But as I get older and want to learn more I find myself wanted to read as much as I can . While getting ready for my first season away from my family I have purchased a few books. I have finished “Following The Alaskan Dream” by Marilyn Jordan George. I really loved the book she reall had a great story behind her life. And I am a chapter away from being done with “Hand Troller” by Mike Mcconnell and I wish to meet him ! What a great read for someone like me. Its like I am by his side while hes experiencing everything!
Books are what keep people’s dream’s alive.
Thank you for the list. Tom Jr

    • Hi Tom! Thanks for writing! Can I ask…how old are you? Where and what fishing are you gearing up for? I’m glad you’re reading up. I casually know the son and daughter-in-law of Marilyn Jordan George (if you read my article, The Fisherman’s Mate, on the Writing Clips page, you’ll see Julie Jordan featured in the article) and I know Marilyn’s book is a classic. I’m so glad you enjoyed the list! :) If you come across any others I don’t have on here, let me know!

  2. Hey Jen thank you for the reply! I will be Twenty-Nine this July . I was going to spend my first season in the SE are of Alaska I really want to see the areas there this year. Alaska is so big I would like to spend as much time in one area as possible. And not having very much money does limit me on travel . As for fishing I would like to try them all haha.I am really interested in Trolling and Tendering . But I have talked to a few people lately and I don’t want to limit the amount of money I can make so I would like something that I have a chance of making a little more in the end. Work hard play harder! Yea such an amazing book I really enjoyed it I couldn’t put it down and finished it so fast ! That’s awsome to know them from the book it seems like great family with great history . Thank you again and I sure will ! Tom Jr
